Death by Pullups
June 9, 2010

Take care of those calluses and shave them down.

There has been so much progress in the gym with regards to pullups.  It's been great to see people going to smaller and smaller bands and for some, leaving them all together.  Pullups are one of the primary gymnastic skills that are at the core of Crossfit WODs.   Continue to practice and work on that kipping technique!  Be sure to check out the the main site's "Exercises and Demos" section regarding pullups and kipping.  For you advanced kippers, click on the link below to view Chris Spealler breaking down the butterfly kip:

WOD

"Death by Pull-ups"

Perform 1 pull up on the 1st minute, 2 pull-ups on the 2nd minute, 3 on the 3rd minute and so on until you cannot complete the number of pull ups in the 1 minute time frame.

Shoot, "Death by Pullup"... You know I'm down. And I thought Wednesday was going to be my rest day. This is what I get for messing with pullups after today's squat clean-a-thon. Bring it on.

hi everyone from warm (107F if you can believe it) Scottsdale AZ. We are finishing the first leg of our trip and are leaving for Colorado in a couple of days.

We've been good about keeping up with our workouts but I'll tell you it is a weird world out there in fitness land. I really feel like a fish out of water doing my snatches and cleans at gold's gym. I think I'm the only one there that is actually moving during a workout. Shayna has been doing the WoDs at the fitness center here and always comes back frustrated because the place has no energy. We really miss Ethos!

Today was a rest day for me from the strength program so I didn't do the clean WoD. Did "Deadhang Fran" which actually turned into Fingertip Deadhang Fran because the only pull-up bar-like object available was the top square crossbar on the smith machine. 9:47 rx. I was really struggling through this one thought it should have been much faster. Probably should have just done a bodyweight WoD.

Hope to see some kickass death by pull-up results on the blog tomorrow!

Did not even come off the bar at 13. 14 was hard and then could not make one last freaking pull-up on 15. This one is deceptive...

Now I cant straighten my arms.

16 Rnds, PR by 2 rounds

Taped up tough and didn't tear, but by round 14 the tape was bunching up and had to go tapeless the last 2 rounds ... still no tear ... whew!

Kent - way to get 19, impressive ... that's 190 pull ups.  I'd say I was only 3 rounds behind you, but that's 54 pull ups.
