When doing Handstand push-ups there are a few different ways to scale the workout. This scale can be in either direction as well, we can make it easier or more difficult as we see fit for each individual. The progression of the movement first starts with Box Pike push-ups, then progresses to band assisted handstand push-ups, next would be against a wall with less range of motion(using 1 or 2 abmats) , then full range of motion(head to ground) handstand push-ups, parallette hpu's, ring hpu's, and finally free standing handstand push-ups. A full range of motion handstand push up is a complicated movement that requires a ton of midline stability as well as a little metal toughness. It is a skill based movement that takes practice, so the next time you show up to class a little early, try out some of these progressions, you might just surprise yourself on what you can accomplish.

Greetings from Barcelona! No crosfit box in barcelona, crazy! I've been sporting my ethos shirt and indoctrinating some friends here. I did bring my jump rope and the hotel has a Concept2 Rower (bastards!). My first vacation wod: 50 double unders 2k Row 50 Double unders Row time: 7:35 Double Unders: didn't time, but good enough I have a healthy dose of award dinners and cocktail receptions coming up so we'll see what other workouts I can muster up.

Hey Everyone,  I am absolutely certain there was a fantastic 6:00 am class this morning and I want to hear about it.  I am on the sidelines for now, not for long though and I need to hear about your victories, any PR's, any thoughts regarding your WOD.

Gina, I looked like a fish out of water doing my HPU with the band for the first time.  As usual I finished last.  But I finished.  Then Drew and  Josh G. were doing 50 pullups for time. Not wanting to be left out I joined in.  I finished last again.  But I finished.  It was a blast.  Good times.

Way to go Erica crushing those HPU's!!

TIME: 25:17 WEIGHT: 315 lbs (squats,,,not my weight :)

Awesome Aaron and before you know it you will be flipping yourself against the wall and bustin' out multiple HSPU's.  Yes YOU did finish and there will come a time when you are first.

Kim, my face is pretty ugly during a WOD.  Haley is always worried I am about to cry.  So no worries, you just look focused.
